Jaspers schreef na de bestseller De stikstoffuik het boek De klimaatoptimist. Daarin legt hij uit dat we geen reden hebben om in paniek te raken over klimaatverandering.

De 30ste klimaatconferentie (COP30) in Belém, Brazilië, verliest volgens professor Fritz Vahrenholt al vanaf het begin aan betekenis. De grootste uitstoters zijn niet op hoog niveau vertegenwoordigd en maar weinig landen zijn transparant over hun klimaatbeleid. Het enige verwachte resultaat is de oprichting van een tropisch regenwoudfonds (TFFF), dat volgens Vahrenholt echter kan uitgroeien tot een financieel moeras.
