Jaspers schreef na de bestseller De stikstoffuik het boek De klimaatoptimist. Daarin legt hij uit dat we geen reden hebben om in paniek te raken over klimaatverandering.

Studenten huilden tijdens gesprekken over de toekomst; hun angsten werden grotendeels gevoed door de herhaalde zeer negatieve berichtgeving over klimaatverandering, zo herinnert ‘professor in ballingschap’ Matthew Wielicki zich in de Climate Debrief-podcast. Hij moedigt jongeren aan om milieu- en klimaatkwesties met evenwicht, optimisme en praktische actie te benaderen in plaats van met wanhoop.
Twintig jaar na het Stern-rapport
Het is nu twintig jaar geleden dat het Stern-rapport over de economische aspecten van klimaatverandering werd gepubliceerd. Dit rapport luidde in het Verenigd Koninkrijk het begin in van het waanzinnige, koolstofvijandige beleid dat, gesteund door onrealistische scenario’s, nog steeds bijdraagt aan de verarming van het land. Tegenwoordig beseft zelfs Tony Blair dat het streven naar ‘Net Zero’ ongerechtvaardigd en schadelijk is voor Groot-Brittannië.
